Video – Vehicle Takes a Brief Tour on Cobourg’s East Pier

In Local

While Cobourg’s east pier is generally understood to be off-limits to motor vehicles, that message apparently didn’t reach at least one driver.

On Tuesday, July 7, 2026, a vehicle was seen making its way onto the east pier after bypassing three concrete barriers placed at the entrance. The driver continued onto the pier, apparently stopping briefly to take in the panoramic view of Lake Ontario, before turning around and leaving the same way.

The incident drew attention from people in the area, as vehicles are not permitted on the pier. The concrete blocks are intended to prevent unauthorized access while still allowing pedestrians to use the popular waterfront destination
