Cobourg Police – Incidents Include, MVC Results in Impaired Charge, Assault, Drug Charges (No Names Released)

A 35-year-old Port Hope man is facing charges following an impaired operation investigation.

On June 9, 2026, at approximately 1:15 a.m., police received a report from a member of the public who observed a vehicle travelling eastbound on King Street East in Cobourg that appeared to have been involved in a collision. Officers located a vehicle matching the description provided with damage consistent with having struck road markers. Police conducted a traffic stop.

As a result of the police investigation, the driver was arrested and charged with operation while impaired and operation while blood concentration over 80mg. The driver remains in custody while the investigation continues. The vehicle involved was impounded. The accused was released on an undertaking with a future court date.

The Cobourg Police Service encourages the public to report suspected impaired driving by calling 911. By reporting suspected impaired drivers to the police, everyone can help keep roads and waterways safe. Always plan for a safe ride home, designate a sober driver, or call a friend, a relative, or a cab.


A 26-year-old Toronto man has been charged following an assault investigation.

On June 8, 2026, officers responded to a report of an assault involving a youth who reported being punched and kicked while at a local park in the area of D’Arcy Street and Bay Street.

Through the investigation, police identified a suspect who was located and arrested without incident. The 26-year-old Toronto man was charged with assault.

The accused was released on an undertaking with conditions and a future court date.


Two Cobourg residents are facing charges following an investigation of suspicious activity.

On June 2, 2026, at approximately 3:15 p.m., police on general patrol in the area of Swayne Street and Division Street in Cobourg observed suspicious activity in a parking lot. Police intervened and arrested two individuals without incident.

A small quantity of methamphetamine was seized as a result of the investigation.

A 27-year-old woman and a 34-year-old man were arrested and charged with Possession of a Schedule I substance and Three counts each of Fail to Comply with Probation

Both accused were released on undertakings with a future court date.
