City of Kawartha Lakes OPP – Fatal Collision in Bobcaygeon

The City of Kawartha Lakes Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating a fatal collision in Bobcaygeon.

On Saturday, May 30, 2026, shortly before 8:30 p.m., members of the City of Kawartha Lakes OPP were dispatched to a collision involving two motor vehicles at the intersection of County Rd. 49 and Burys Green Rd. in Bobcaygeon.

A 16-year-old female driver from Bobcaygeon was pronounced deceased at the scene. The sole passenger of that vehicle was taken to hospital and later airlifted to a trauma centre by Ornge air ambulance with life-threatening injuries. The other driver was uninjured.

County Rd. 49 closed between White Valley Rd. and Somerville 3rd Concession for the investigation, with assistance from the OPP Traffic Incident Management & Enforcement (TIME) team. All lanes reopened around 4:00 a.m. on May 31, 2026.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone who may have witnessed the collision or has dashcam footage from the area at the time of the incident is asked to contact the OPP at 1-888-310-1122.
