Northumberland OPP – Port Hope Man Charged After Numerous Stolen Vehicles Recovered (Name Released)

Members of the Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have recovered multiple stolen vehicles and charged one individual.

On May 23, 2026, officers responded to a complaint regarding a stolen vehicle at a property on County Road 65 in the Municipality of Port Hope. Police located a stolen pickup truck, and the Peterborough/Northumberland Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) was engaged to assist with the investigation.

A search warrant was executed at the property on May 24, 2026. As a result, numerous stolen vehicles were located within wooded areas on the property. Officers also recovered a fishing boat.

In total, police seized seven motor vehicles, a boat, and other items believed to be related to criminal activity. The estimated value of the recovered vehicles is approximately $900,000 CAD.

As a result, Syed SHAH (41) from the Municipality of Port Hope, has been charged with:

· Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000 – eight counts

· Altering/destroying/removing a vehicle identification number – three counts

The accused was held for bail to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg.
