Cobourg Police – Oshawa Man Faces Theft Charge (No Name Released)

In Police Blotter

A 31-year-old Oshawa man is facing charges following a theft investigation earlier this year.

On Friday, January 9, 2026, police received a report of a theft from a business in the area of Strathy Road and DePalma Drive in Cobourg. The incident occurred the previous day, January 8, 2026, at approximately 5:30 p.m.

Officers reviewed video surveillance, which showed an individual moving throughout the store, placing merchandise into a cart, and exiting through an emergency fire exit without making any attempt to pay. The individual then fled the area in a vehicle.

As a result of the investigation, a 31-year-old Oshawa man was arrested on May 20, 2026, and charged with theft under $5,000 and possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000. He was released on an undertaking and with a future court date.
