Annual Dredging Underway in Cobourg Harbour

In Local

Dredging operations at the marina are expected to begin this week and continue through the third week of June, weather permitting.

Municipal officials say a new full-time operator has now been hired after the previous employee transferred to another department. The new operator started on Tuesday, May 19, 2026.

Officials said there have been no delays to the dredging project, explaining the initial focus this spring was on opening both the campground and marina for the season.

With those operations now up and running, attention has shifted fully to dredging work.

Staff say early spring water levels generally provide enough depth for boat traffic, but dredging during May and June is important to maintain safe and navigable conditions as water levels begin to decline later in the season.

If required, additional dredging work will resume in the fall.
