In Police Blotter

A pickup truck driver was taken to hospital following a collision involving a motorhome in Cobourg on Sunday (April 19, 2026) afternoon, after emergency crews responded to reports of people trapped in the wreckage.

The crash happened at approximately 12:08 p.m. on Elgin Street, just west of Division Street, when a pickup truck and a motorhome collided in the westbound lanes. Emergency services arriving on scene were told that up to two people may have been trapped inside the vehicles.

When responders reached the collision site, they found the motorhome wedged against the pickup truck. One person from the pickup truck was removed through the passenger-side door, while two occupants inside the motorhome were freed after crews forced open a door to gain access.

Cobourg Police Service closed westbound lanes of Elgin Street for roughly an hour to allow firefighters and paramedics to safely carry out the rescue and clear the scene.

The driver of the pickup truck was transported to hospital with what are believed to be non-life threatening injuries.

Traffic in the area was restored once the scene was cleared and investigators completed their initial examination of the roadway.
