Durham Regional Police – Police Seeking Suspect Following Voyeurism Incident at Newcastle Recreation Centre

Police are searching for a male following reports of voyeurism at a Newcastle Recreation Centre.

On Thursday, April 9, 2026, between approximately 8:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., at the Dianne Harme Recreation Centre located at 1780 Rudell Road, a male suspect in the male changeroom pulled open the privacy curtain to an occupied shower, while he was also showering. The victim, a 12-year-old male, was in the shower when the curtain was pulled open. The victim closed the curtain however the suspect repeatedly opened the shower curtain. The victim exited the shower and was followed by the suspect who then attempted to initiate a conversation. The victim fled the changeroom and later advised a waiting parent.

The victim did not sustain any physical injuries.

Police have concerns there may be other victims.

The suspect is described as: male, White, approximately 65-70 years-old, no facial hair.

Anyone with cell phone, dash cam, surveillance footage or information about this incident is asked to contact the D/Cst. Newman of the East Division Criminal Investigations Branch at 1-888-579-1520 ext. 1605.
