BECN Opens Starter Company Growth Program Applications

The Business & Entrepreneurship Centre Northumberland (BECN) is now welcoming applications for its Starter Company Growth Program, which supports local businesses and fuels economic growth.

From refining business strategies to pursuing new opportunities, the program is designed to help entrepreneurs build on their momentum – offering mentorship, hands-on training, and the opportunity to receive a micro grant of up to $3,500.

About the BECN
The BECN serves as a launchpad for business success in Northumberland. Through a wide range of free programs, tools, and advisory services, the BECN supports businesses at every stage – from start-up to expansion. Services include funding opportunities, professional development workshops, one-on-one consultations, and peer networking opportunities, all designed to help entrepreneurs build knowledge, confidence, and meaningful connections.

What is the Starter Company Growth Program?
Supported by the Province of Ontario, the Starter Company Growth Program is designed to help small business owners in Northumberland grow, innovate and succeed in today’s competitive marketplace.
Participants will benefit from expert-led training, dedicated mentorship, and practical business support – plus the chance to secure a micro grant of up to $3,500 to reinvest directly into their business.

Who is eligible to apply?
This program is ideal for entrepreneurs who are ready to:
· Expand operations or reach new markets
· Hire and grow their team
· Launch new products or services

Eligible businesses must have been operating full-time in Northumberland for at least six months.

How to apply
Applications are open until April 13, 2026, and spaces are limited. Funding will be awarded through a competitive process, and not all applicants will receive a micro grant.
