Northumberland OPP – Driver Charged with Impaired on Highway 401 (Name Released)

The Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a motorist with impaired operation following a traffic stop on Highway 401.

On March 14, 2026, shortly before 10:30 p.m., police received a report of a pickup truck travelling westbound on Highway 401 in the Township of Cramahe with no lights activated.

Officers located the vehicle and observed it failing to maintain its lane. A traffic stop was conducted, and after speaking with the driver, officers initiated an impaired driving investigation.

As a result, the driver was taken into custody and transported to a local detachment for further testing.

Colsen BROWN-CLARKE (19) from Peterborough, has been charged with:

·        Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

·        Drive without proper rear light

·        Driver fail to surrender licence

·        Drive vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg in May 2026. A 90‑day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS) and a seven‑day vehicle impound were also imposed.
