The Cobourg Police Service has laid additional charges against a former elementary school teacher in an ongoing historical sexual assault investigation.

Following the distribution of a media release on February 2, 2026, investigators received multiple tips, which led to additional charges.

As a result of the ongoing investigation, members of the Cobourg Police Service Criminal Investigations Bureau arrested Jack Vollering (80) on March 5, 2026. The accused is now facing the following additional charges:

Three (3) counts of Sexual Assault
Two (2) counts of Sexual Interference with a person under 14 years of age
Two (2) counts of Sexual Exploitation
Three (3) counts of Indecent Assault on a Female
One (1) count of Assault
The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing and subsequently released to a surety.

The investigation is ongoing as there may be other victims. Anyone with information is asked to call 905-372-6821 or leave an anonymous tip with Crime Stoppers by phone at 1-800-222-8477 or online at stopcrimehere.ca.

Cobourg Police Service reminds everyone that there is no statute of limitations for sexual offences, and offenders can be prosecuted well after the date of the offence. A sexual assault includes any non-consensual contact of a sexual nature. Police encourage anyone who feels they may have been a victim of a sexual assault to come forward and report the incident to police.
