Update – Video – Northumberland OPP Continue to Investigate Suspicious Death in Municipality of Port Hope

Northumberland OPP continue to investigate the cause of death of a person who was located at a Municipality of Port Hope address on February 19, 2026.

At approximately 5:00 a.m. Northumberland OPP, Northumberland Paramedics and Port Hope Fire and Emergency Services were dispatched to a Sokay’s Road residence off of 7th Line for a 35-year-old woman who was vital signs absent and later pronounced deceased at the scene.

The OPP Criminal Investigations Branch along with the OPP Forensic Identification Unit was dispatched to the scene.

Northumberland OPP say at this point preliminary information suggests this is an isolated incident, with no signs of a broader threat. Police continue to investigate and are actively monitoring the situation.
On Friday, police tape was at the front of the residence and a OPP cruiser was situated in the driveway.
