Port Hope Police – Officer Injured After Responding to Assault in Progress (No Name Released)

The Port Hope Police Service has charged a 32-year-old Port Hope man following an incident in the early morning hours of February 19, 2026. At approximately 2:45 a.m., officers responded to a residence on Phillips Road for a report of an assault in progress. Upon arrival, police located an individual being assaulted and intervened immediately.

During the arrest, the accused became combative with officers, resulting in one officer sustaining an injury requiring medical attention.

As a result of the investigation, the accused has been charged with:

• Assault – Spousal

• Assault Peace Officer Causing Bodily Harm

• Assault Peace Officer

• Uttering Threats to Cause Death or Bodily Harm (two counts)

• Possession of a Schedule I Substance (Cocaine)

• Fail to Comply with Probation Order (two counts)

The accused was held in custody pending a Show Cause Hearing.
