Northumberland OPP – Inmate Assaulted at Warkworth Institution

The Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating an incident which occurred at Warkworth Institution in the Municipality of Brighton.

On February 14, 2026, shortly after 7:00 p.m., officers received a report regarding an altercation between two inmates where an edged weapon was involved. One person was transported to a local hospital for medical treatment.

An OPP Scenes of Crime Officer (SOCO) attended the location to assist the investigation which is being conducted by the Northumberland Crime Unit.
