Cobourg Police Services Board Re-Elects Chair and Vice-Chair

In Local, Police Blotter

At its first meeting of 2026, the Cobourg Police Services Board meeting re-elected Adam Bureau as Chair and Sean Graham as Vice-Chair.

Weather thinned the numbers present to the point that they were the only members physically present, though Dean Pepper was attending virtually. Each presented the other’s nomination to Board Manager Sarah Ruffolo who, in the absence of other nominees, declared Graham and Bureau re-elected.

Bureau expressed his sincere appreciation to CPS members who kept the community safe during the holiday season, and spotlighted such key priorities for the coming year as a new strategic plan and ensuring executive leadership with the pending retirements not only of Chief Paul VandeGraaf but also Deputy Chief Jeff Haskins.

He also reiterated the board’s commitment to “strong governance, transparency and effective oversight in support of a safe and thriving Cobourg.”

It was said that VandeGraaf was absent due to being stuck on Highway 401, and member Nicole Beatty did arrive at the meeting later.
