A fleet of construction vehicles including a grader, dump trucks and more rolled into downtown Cobourg shortly after midnight on Thursday, January 8, 2026 to clear away the snow.
A notice was sent out by the Town of Cobourg about the removal of snow from downtown streets and sidewalks set for Thursday morning.
It seemed that people seemed to get the “drift” except for one motorist parked along the north side of King Street near Division Street who had two tickets placed on the windshield of the vehicle.
The vehicle would have likely been towed, but a tow truck was unavailable.
A private company was called in to clear the main portion of King Street and at 2 a.m. Town of Cobourg Works Department staff joined them clearing King Street south to Albert Street downtown.
Using shovels workers cleared around trees, hydrants and meters. The snow was then piled into the street and then taken away by a dump truck.
Once the sun came up, downtown was cleared of the snow – at least for now.
