Video – So Far Only Minor Issues with the Freezing Rain in Northumberland County

In Local, Weather

So far, for the most part, so good.

The freezing rain has hit the Northumberland County area, but so far, there have been what might be considered minor issues.

Plows are out in all areas of Northumberland County clearing areas and sanding/salting roads.

On Highway 401 there have been a few collisions, but nothing major.

During the evening, relatively minor problems to report.

In Cobourg, Jordan Stevenson from IHARC noticed Division Street, just north of King Street was flooded and borrowed a snow shovel from nearby and got to work clearing the drain.

Shortly after, Public Works crews arrived and fixed the issue.

With the deluge of rain, the Rotary Harbourfront Rink got a fresh layer of water that is expected to turn to ice as the temperatures drop.

By morning temperatures are expected to drop and the water from the rain will turn to ice.
