Video – Owners of Former Brookside Youth Centre Served Notice To Clear Sidewalks of Snow

The owners of 390 King Street West were served notice to clear their sidewalks from snow and ice.

Today’s Northumberland noticed a sign posted at the entrance to the former Brookside Youth Centre just off King Street East on Monday, December 15, 2025.

The notice said the date of inspection was December 15, 2025 at 10:10 a.m. and the violation listed was:

“The property located at the above-noted address has been determined to be in noncompliance with the Town of Cobourg Ice and Snow Removal By-Law 014-2025, Section 2:

“Every owner or occupant of any Lot, building, unoccupied building or vacant lands within the limits of the Corporation of the Town of Cobourg shall clear away and remove all of the snow and ice which constitutes a hazard to the public using a highway from the roofs of such buildings and shall clear and remove all the snow and ice from the sidewalks on the highways in front of, alongside of or at the rear of such Lot, buildings or vacant lands.”

Additionally, Town of Cobourg Ice and Snow Removal By-Law 014-2025, Section 3 states:

“The clearance and removal of snow and ice herein shall be carried out as often as required, and in any event, not later than midnight on the day following any snowfall, fall of hail or freezing rain or after the fall of any snow from any building or after the municipality has completed its general snow ploughing operations from the highway in front of, alongside of or at the rear of such buildings or vacant lands referred to in Section 2 of this By-law.”

The notice states the owners of the property have until December 16 at 1 p.m. to have the snow/ice removed from the property along King Street East/Cottesemore Avenue.
