Cobourg Police Chief Launches “Review” After Questionable Images Posted on Social Media

In Local, Police Blotter

Cobourg Police have launched a “review” after two images posted on social media have raised concerns.

Today’s Northumberland was sent the images that were on the officers social media page up until recently.

One of the images show the male officer wearing a bra and a woman appearing to lick the bra.

The second image is is comments about a woman’s anatomy.

Today’s Northumberland reached out to the officer on Monday, December 1 stating that a person unfamiliar to us sent the images.

It’s also unknown if the officer was with the Cobourg Police Service at the time the images were posted.

Chief Paul VandeGraaf stated to Today’s Northumberland that the images are “concerning in many aspects.”

“Further this is not in any manner consistent with our values. This is currently under review, and as this is a human resources matter, not further public comment will be made at this time.”

VandeGraaf also stated that it was Today’s Northumberland reaching out to the member directly that brought it to the Chief’s attention.

VandeGraaf added that, Today’s Northumberland reaching out to the member was “highly questionable ethically to me.”

Chair of the Police Services Board Adam Bureau stated, “I have been not aware of these pictures and this would also fall under operations.
