Annual closure of Canadian Coast Guard seasonal Search and Rescue stations in Ontario

In Local

The Canadian Coast Guard seasonal search and rescue stations in Ontario will close on the following dates:

· November 24: Thunder Bay

· December 1: Goderich, Meaford, Tobermory

· December 8: Amherstburg, Cobourg, Kingston, Port Dover, Port Weller

Maritime emergencies can be reported to the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre, Trenton, at any time at 1 800 267 7270 or through channel 16 on VHF radios.

Winter search and rescue operations are carried out by the Canadian Coast Guard using icebreakers and other available vessels in the area, as required. We also work closely with our colleagues in the Canadian Armed Forces, as well as local and provincial agencies for search and rescue operations, as needed.

Highly trained Canadian Coast Guard Auxiliary volunteers and their vessels remain available to help boaters in distress.
