Video – Cobourg Fire Department Responds to Smell of Smoke in Building

Cobourg Fire Department responded to downtown Cobourg for the smell of natural gas on Thursday, November 13, 2025.

At approximately 3 p.m. Cobourg Fire Department responded to 39 King Street East for the smell of natural gas in the building.

While crews were responding they were advised there was possible smoke in the building and the call was upgraded for a full response.

Firefighters did an extensive search through the building and found no signs of natural gas, but there was a minor smell of smoke in the basement.

Three staff members were checked by paramedics, but did not require further treatment.

A Fire Prevention Officer attended the scene and the power was isolated to the unit that caused the smell of the smoke and fire crews left at approximately 5 p.m. with further follow-up.
