Cobourg Police – Incidents Include Public Intox, Break and Enter, Shoplifting (No Names Released)

A Cobourg man was arrested for public intoxication on Saturday night.

On November 1, 2025, at approximately 10:15 pm, police responded to a business on Division Street for reports of an intoxicated man disrupting customers.

As a result of the police investigation, the 56-year-old Cobourg man was arrested and charged with Being Intoxicated in a Public Place under the Liquor Licence and Control Act and entering premises When Entry is prohibited under the Trespass to Property Act.  He was released with Provincial Offences Notices.


A 38-year-old Cobourg man was arrested for break and enter after police responded to a call Saturday night.

On November 1, 2025, at approximately 11:00 pm, police responded to a report of a break and enter at a residence in the area of Ontario Street and Furnace Street in Cobourg. Police located the suspect at the scene.

As a result of the police investigation, a 38-year-old Cobourg man was arrested and charged with Break and Enter, Possession of an Identity Document, and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime.  The accused was released on an undertaking with a future court date.


A 38-year-old man is facing charges after police responded to a shoplifting report on Friday afternoon.

On October 31, 2025, at approximately 2:50 p.m., police were contacted by a business on Elgin Street West for a shoplifting report. Staff observed a man concealing merchandise on his person.  Police attended and located the man, who was still inside the store.

As a result of the police investigation, a 38-year-old Cobourg man was arrested.  During the arrest, police located a small quantity of suspected fentanyl. The man was charged with Theft Under $5,000, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime, and Possession of a Schedule I Substance. The accused was later released on an Undertaking with a future court date.
