Video – Municipality of Trent Hills Hosting Senior’s Safety Day

The Municipality of Trent Hills Fire Department is hosting their first Senior’s Day on October 8 at the Sunny Life Recreation and Wellness Centre.

Trent Hills Fire Department Fire Inspector Brian Buchanan said there will be something for all seniors and a number of agencies will be on hand for any questions seniors or caregivers may have.

A few of the agencies that will be on hand starting at 12:30 p.m. are Trent Hills Fire Department, Northumberland OPP, YMCA Northumberland Campbellford, Northumberland County Paramedics, Alzheimer’s Society, Campbellford Memorial Hospital – Diabetes/Outpatient, Community Care Northumberland, Elder Abuse Ontario, GAIN & Community Mental Health, Canadian Abilities Foundation and Ontario Health Home.

Emergency services will also be giving presentations during the event.

“It’s a one stop event for seniors on how to be safe in their home.”

The focus is for seniors, and anyone who has questions or needs help.

“If you have a family member who can’t attend, but you can attend for them, maybe there is someone at home that could use some of these services.”

Trent Hills Fire Department has a program they will install a smoke detector for seniors or someone who can’t replace them.

Northumberland OPP will also be talking and educating people in attendance about fraud prevention.

The event starts at 12:30 p.m. with a free barbeque and goes till 3 p.m. at 50 Seymour Quarry Road in Campbellford.
