Thanks to the Community a Cobourg’s Boys Dream of Helping Others Came True

In Local

While most people enjoyed the summer outdoors playing with friends, nine-year-old Avery Mitchell-Hicks was selling lemonade.

The efforts of Avery went to Sick Kids Hospital in Toronto.

Avery started his lemonade stand at the beginning of July and was out there for three weeks in the blazing heat, but still having that smile on his face to raise money for a worthy cause.

After that, Avery would go out on weekends and the occasional weekday to sell his lemonade.

Avery had surgery on September 17 and had a follow-up on October 1 so it was while the family was at Sick Kids they presented a cheque for $700.

The Cobourg youth used his allowance money to purchase the items needed for his lemonade and the different flavours.

The family would like to thank every person who stopped by and donated and took the time to chat with Avery.

“Thank you all. You all made my boys dream of raising money for Sick Kids come true and we will forever be grateful to you all!,” said Avery’s mother Stephanie.
