With news of the current Canada Post labour disruption, the Municipality of Port Hope is encouraging residents to seek out alternative methods for receiving and paying tax and water/wastewater bills to avoid potential delays. You are responsible for paying your bill on time.

Alternative Methods to Receive Your Bills
The Municipality offers several ways to obtain your bill, including:
eBilling – Sign up for ebilling and have your bills delivered directly to your email inbox, no mail required.
Virtual Town Hall – Sign up for Virtual Town Hall to access, view, and pay your bills online anytime, anywhere. This simple, secure, and paper-free option puts your billing information at your fingertips 24/7.
By Phone – Call the Finance Department to speak with a staff member about your bill.
In Person – Visit the Finance Department at Town Hall to request a copy of your bill.

Alternative Methods to Pay Your Bills
To pay your bill, the Municipality offers various payment options, including:

Online Banking – Make payments through your financial institution’s online banking service.

Telephone Banking – Pay your bill using your bank’s telephone banking service.

In Person at Your Financial Institution – Visit your bank or financial institution to make a payment.

Credit Card Payments – Pay your bill using a credit card through Virtual Town Hall.

Pre-Authorized Payments – Sign up for automatic payments to avoid missing due dates.

Drop Box – Place a cheque (no cash) in the after-hours drop box located on the front doors of Town Hall.

In-Person Payments – Pay by cash, cheque, or debit in the Finance Office at Town Hall during business hours (Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.).

Important Dates for Upcoming Water and Wastewater Bills

Bill Preparation: Municipal water and wastewater bills were processed and mailed Wednesday September 24, 2025.

Impact of Canada Post Labour Disruption: If you didn’t receive your bill you can contact the Finance Office for total amount of current bill.

Due date: Water and wastewater bill payments are due by October 15, 2025.

Important Dates for Upcoming Property Tax Bills

Impact of Canada Post Labour Disruption: If you are a new homeowner to Port Hope, contact the Finance Office to confirm whether anything is owning on your property tax account.

Final due date for 2025: September 26, 2025.
