Video – Tractor Trailers Collide on Highway 401 at Port Hope

In Police Blotter

One lane of Highway 401 at Port Hope was closed for most of the day after two tractor trailers collided.

It was around 6 a.m. when Northumberland OPP responded to the collision which was approximately one-kilometre west of the County Road 28 overpass in the westbound lanes.

A transport hauling solid rolls of steel weighing upwards of 175-200 pounds rear-ended another transport.

The force of the impact broke the skids of steel sending them through the trailer of the transport striking the cab so hard it was dislodged.

Neither driver was injured but due to the damage and weight of the load one lane of Highway 401 in the area of the collision was closed for most of the day.

The investigation is continuing.
