Video – Small, Loud and Confusing Protest in Front of Victoria Hall

In Local

A small group of protestors made a lot of noise in front of Victoria Hall in Cobourg on Wednesday, July 30, 2025.

There was approximately six people banging mostly pots and pans, but with the noise of the pots and pans it made it hard to understand exactly what they were protesting.

One protestor didn’t want her photo taken, another didn’t explain in detail what the protest was about, but another did take the time to explain it was in support of Palestine.

A journalist in the Gaza strip named Bisan Owda made a post on Instagram last week asking members of the public to bang pots and pans.

The post stated, you are not helpless, this is a call for action!! Bang the pots. Because the sound of our empty stomachs and the voice of humanity must be louder than their brutality. Israel has been blocking food, water, and medicine from entering Gaza for five months. Bang pots in front of it’s embassies, parliaments, and complicit companies, institutions, politicians and officials in your countries. It’s our world, it’s not theirs. It’s time for justice. No more oppression.”

The social media post said the demonstration was supposed to take place on July 24, but another post also indicated one being on July 30, 2025.

“July 30th world wide pot banging movement!!

Dear people, we are dying because of a man made starvation, on front of the whole world and no one anymore doesn’t know that this is an ethnic cleansing by weaponizing hunger, engineered and applied by Israel and the US in Gaza Strip. Researchers and humanitarian workers say, there is no turning back from this point and more Palestinians will be dying because of malnutrition even if food entered now, but at the same time hundreds of thousands are at the risk of dying in the upcoming weeks, if we didn’t act right now!
They thought that lying to us about entering food will be enough to silence us! Let’s show them the opposite!”
