Peterborough County OPP – Peterborough Woman Killed in Collision

Members of the Peterborough County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and emergency crews attended the scene of a serious single vehicle collision on Bensfort Road.

At approximately 2:45pm on Tuesday July 29, 2025, Peterborough County OPP officers along with Otonabee-South-Monaghan (OSM) Fire and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) were dispatched to a serious single vehicle collision on Bensfort Road south of Base Line. Officers arrived and observed a single vehicle in the ditch that had come in contact with the hydro pole resulting in hydro lines being downed. Hydro attended and dealt with the hydro wires allowing First Responders to access the vehicle.

As a result of the collision, the driver and sole occupant of the vehicle, a 66-year-old female from Peterborough was pronounced as deceased at the scene.

Bensfort Road remained closed for several hours while emergency crews dealt with the collision and officers trained in collision reconstruction measured and documented the scene.
