New facility part of the government’s plan to protect Ontario’s health-care system by connecting more people to primary care in their community

The Ontario government is celebrating the completion of Brock Community Health Centre’s (CHC) new state-of-the-art facility in Cannington, connecting more people in Brock Township and the surrounding areas to world-class primary care and health promotion services, close to home.

“Our government is protecting Ontario’s health-care system and ensuring that more people in Brock Township and the surrounding communities can connect to comprehensive primary care services, where and when they need it,” said Sylvia Jones, Deputy Premier and Minister of Health. “The new and improved Brock Community Health Centre will make it faster and easier for more patients and their families to access quality primary care and health services in their community, for years to come.”

Supported by a provincial investment of $16.6 million, the new 19,000-square-foot community health centre will increase access to primary-care services and programs and serve as a hub for health-care organizations and service providers.

The new community health centre will provide patients and families with:

  • Expanded access to physicians and nurse practitioners, with eight new, larger clinic rooms
  • Expert nutrition education, including Registered Dietitian services and a teaching kitchen to support healthy meal preparation
  • Physiotherapy services
  • Comprehensive assessments and behavioural supports for seniors to support independence and improve quality of life
  • Two dental suites to address growing dental needs for children through Durham Region’s Healthy Smiles Program
  • Foot care services
  • A new multi-purpose room to facilitate fitness and health education programs and community events

“The opening of the new Brock Community Health Centre marks a major milestone in connecting more people in our community to the primary care and health services they deserve,” said Laurie Scott, MPP for Haliburton—Kawartha Lakes—Brock. “With the $16.6 million investment from the provincial government this facility will not only enhance access to care but also strengthen our local health system by offering comprehensive, team-based services closer to home.”

Through Your Health: A Plan for Connected and Convenient Care, the Ontario government continues to take bold and decisive action to grow and protect the province’s highly skilled health-care workforce and ensure people and their families have access to high-quality care closer to home for generations to come.

Quick Facts

  • Brock Community Health Centre is a non-profit organization funded by the Ontario Ministry of Health that offers a range of primary care services in combination with health promotion and community development activities.
  • Over the next 10 years, Ontario is investing nearly $60 billion on major health infrastructure. This is part of the government’s plan to get shovels in the ground on more than 50 major hospital projects across the province, which will deliver approximately 3,000 new hospital beds and build a connected, people-first health-care system.
