Cobourg Council is proposing to amend the Emergency Care Establishment Bylaw at the council meeting on April 30, 2025.
The ECE bylaw which was created on February 28, 2024 which is a by-law to license, regulate and govern emergency care establishments in the Town of Cobourg.
The addition to the the Emergency Care Establishment By-law would include::
4.7 There shall be no more than two (2) Emergency Care Establishment licences issued by the Town at any one time.
4.8 Notwithstanding section 4.7 the Director may issue more than two (2) Emergency Care Establishment licences for the purpose of ensuring the equal distribution of Emergency Care Establishments operating within the other lower-tier municipalities in Northumberland County.
4.9 An Emergency Care Establishment licence shall not be issued for any Emergency Care Establishment which is located or proposed to be located within 100 metres from any existing licensed Emergency Care Establishment. For the purposes of this section, the distance shall be measured from the perimeter of the Property for which the licence is sought to the perimeter of the next nearest Property on which an Emergency Care Establishment is situated.
