Local Players Facing Off in OHL Playoff Series

In Hockey

Cobourg’s Ethan Miedema of the Kingston Frontenacs and Port Hope’s Dalyn Wakely of the Barrie Colts are currently squaring off in a second round Ontario Hockey League playoff series.

The best-of-seven series is now even at two games apiece following a 9-4 win by the Frontenacs on Thursday night in Kingston. Wakely scored twice for Barrie in the loss.
The Colt had won the first two games at home before losing two straight in Kingston.
Game 5 goes Saturday in Barrie with the sixth game Sunday in Kingston.
Miedema is playing in his fourth OHL season, including two-and-a-half with the Frontenacs following a trade from the Windsor Spitfires. The 20-year-old is also a prospect of the NHL’s Buffalo Sabres after being a fourth-round draft pick in 2023.
Wakely, 21, was drafted last year by the Edmonton Oilers in the sixth round. It’s also his fourth OHL campaign (his first season was wiped out due to the COVID-19 pandemic) and first with Barrie after spending three seasons with the North Bay Battalion.
