Municipality of Port Hope Launches Strategic Plan Community Engagement

In Local

The Municipality of Port Hope is launching community engagement efforts for the development of its next Strategic Plan, inviting residents and community partners to share their thoughts on priorities, services, and future initiatives. Under the theme “Community Voices in Action – Shape, Share, Strengthen,” this initiative encourages broad participation to help shape the future of the Municipality.

A municipal strategic plan is a long-term roadmap that outlines goals and priorities to guide decision-making, improve services, and promote responsible community growth.

Community input is essential to ensure the plan reflects local needs and aspirations.

“The strength of our Municipality comes from the collective voices of those who live, work, and invest here,” noted Port Hope Mayor Olena Hankivsky. “This Strategic Plan will help guide our future priorities and decision-making, and we want it to reflect the diverse perspectives of our community. I encourage everyone—residents, business owners, and community organizations—to get involved, complete the survey, and attend a pop-up session to help shape the future of Port Hope.”

Members of the community can participate in several ways:

• Online Survey – Share your voice by completing the online survey at your convenience.

• Pop-Up Sessions – Engage in discussions with our consultants at pop-up events across the community, where you can provide feedback and receive guidance on completing the survey.

Pop-Up Schedule:

• April 2, 2025 – Town Park Recreation Centre, 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

• April 2, 2025 – Jack Burger Sports Complex, 3:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

• April 12, 2025 – Fannyville at Float Your Fanny Down the Ganny, 10:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

• April 12, 2025 – Hope Transfer Station, 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

In addition to these public engagement opportunities, the consultant leading the strategic planning process will be gathering insights through interviews with members of Council and senior municipal officials, a staff survey, staff focus groups, community group meetings, and a Council workshop.

Residents are encouraged to take part in this process and help shape the future of Port Hope. More details, including access to the survey, can be found on the Municipality’s website at porthope.ca/strategic-plan.
