Belleville Police – Incidents Include Belleville Woman Charged with Impaired, Vehicle Fails to Stop for Police

Total calls for service – Belleville Police responded to 86 calls for service over a 24-hour period beginning at 5:00 am on February 26, 2025 to 5:00 am on February 27, 2025.

Belleville Woman Charged with Impaired
On the 26th of February at 5:14pm, Belleville Police responded to a west end address after receiving reports of a female who was unconscious behind the wheel of a motor vehicle while it was running.

Police requested that paramedics attend as well in case it was a medical emergency.

During their initial investigation, police believed that the female was impaired by drug.

A police officer with specific training as a drug recognition expert attended and continued the investigation.

At the conclusion, 30-year-old Marisha Bentley of Belleville was charged with operation while impaired and possession of a Schedule 1 controlled substance.

She was issued a 90-day licence suspension and her vehicle was impounded for seven days.

She was released on an Appearance Notice with a court date in March.

Vehicle strikes two poles and fails to stop for police
On the 26th of February at 11:12pm, an officer on patrol observed a vehicle driving erratically.

As the officer was maneuvering behind the vehicle to initiate a traffic stop, the vehicle quickly accelerated away and struck a parking pole near the intersection of Front St and Bridge St.

The suspect driver put the truck in reverse and then sped off. The officer activated their emergency equipment however the vehicle failed to stop.

The officer disengaged due to public safety.

A short time later, police received information that a vehicle fitting the same description had struck a pole on Ann St. During the follow-up investigation, police located the vehicle unoccupied.

The vehicle was towed to the Belleville Police Service pending further investigation.

The suspect vehicle is a 2008 GMC Sierra and is blue in colour.
