It’s a boy! First NHH baby of the new year welcomed by Samantha and Dave Parks of Bowmanville on Wednesday, January 1!
Northumberland Hills Hospital (NHH) has welcomed its first baby of the new year! Born to Samantha and Dave Parks of Bowmanville, Ontario, the baby boy—named Kane—weighed 8 pounds and 7 ounces (3845 grams) and was born at 7:40 PM. He is the first child for Samantha and Dave.
“We’re so excited and grateful to be Kane’s parents,” said Samantha. “Our Midwife Paige made us feel comfortable throughout the entire birthing process, especially as first-time parents.”
“Everyone has gone above and beyond to make this experience so special for us,” said Dave. “We will never forget the attentiveness, care, and kindness that has been shown to our family.”
As per hospital tradition, Kane will also be the first New Year baby to go home from NHH with a gift basket prepared and donated by the staff and volunteers of the hospital. Maternal/Child Care nurses took the initiative to hand-pick items they felt new parents would appreciate and enjoy. With support from NHH, the NHH Foundation, and the NHH Auxiliary, a personalized gift basket was presented to Samantha, Dave, and baby Kane.
“Thank you to everyone at NHH for the wonderful gift basket. We are overwhelmed by the generosity and kindness,” said Dave.
The Maternal/Child Care team at NHH welcomed 532 births at the hospital in the last fiscal year, thanks to a strong partnership with local obstetrician-gynecologists, family physicians, anesthesiologists, and area midwifery groups.
Designed with the unique needs of newborns, their mothers and family members in mind, NHH’s Maternal/Child Care unit is equipped with six labour and delivery beds, each in their own private suite, a Caesarean-section operating room, and advanced fetal and patient monitoring.
