Ed’s House Northumberland Hospice Care Centre Celebrates Wind Phone Dedication

In Community, Local

Ed’s House Northumberland Hospice Care Centre is proud to announce the dedication of its new Wind Phone, a unique and heartfelt addition to their Therapeutic Garden. This special installation provides visitors with a space to reflect, remember, and connect with their loved ones who have passed away, offering comfort and a sense of peace during moments of grief.

The Wind Phone connects us to those we can no longer see, offering solace as we embrace our
grief. It provides a space to express emotions, share cherished memories, and say goodbye.

This profound concept allows our words to be carried on the wind, honouring the memories of
those no longer with us and expressing our love for them.

This meaningful project was made possible with the generous support of RTOERO
District 30 Northumberland, who donated $4,000, allowing Ed’s House to bring this important
piece of healing art to life within the serene setting of their Therapeutic Garden.

“We are incredibly grateful to RTOERO District 30 Northumberland, local Donors and garden
volunteers for their generosity and support in making the Wind Phone a reality,” said Trish
Baird, CEO of Community Care Northumberland. “The Wind Phone is a powerful symbol of
remembrance and healing, and we are so thankful for the community’s commitment to providing
a space where individuals can process grief and feel a connection to their loved ones.”

A special thank you is extended to Lori Groves, our Therapeutic Garden Coordinator, for her
leadership and passion in creating and maintaining the garden. Lori’s efforts continue to inspire
and cultivate a space where healing can take place in a serene and supportive environment.

Ed’s House would also like to express sincere gratitude to the many volunteers who
contributed their time and talents to make this project possible. Special thanks to the
Northumberland Master Gardeners who provided their time and expertise, who together with
donations of supplies and labour from local businesses The Tree Medic, Bin-it, Davey Sand,
Gravel and Landscape Supplies and Cold Springs Flower Farm, made this project possible.

The Wind Phone is a significant addition to the Ed’s House Therapeutic Garden, a tranquil
space designed to support the emotional well-being of those in care, their families, and the
broader community. Ed’s House is committed to providing spaces of comfort and healing, and
the Wind Phone is an extension of that mission.
