Northumberland OPP – Three Drivers Charged with Impaired (Names Released)

Officers from the Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged three more drivers with impaired operation.

On November 1, 2024, at around 8:40 p.m., police responded to a report from Emergency Medical Services (EMS) regarding a motorist who had come to a stop in the hard shoulder on County Road 29 in the Township of Alnwick-Haldimand.

Officers arrived and upon speaking to the driver, entered into an impaired operation investigation which resulted in the accused being arrested and transported to a local detachment for further tests.

Open liquor was observed in the passenger vehicle and through investigation, it was found that the individual had been towing a trailer which had become detached and was located nearby on Community Hall Road. The accused was arrested and transported to a local detachment for further tests. No injuries were reported and there were no other persons involved.

Dwyte JOHNSTON, 60-years-old, from Warkworth, has been charged with:

– Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

– Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80) plus

– Driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor

– Insecure load.

In addition to a future court date, a further 90-day Administrative Driver Licence Suspension (ADLS) and a seven-day vehicle impound was initiated as per statute.

On November 2, 2024, shortly before 11:00 a.m., OPP were conducting speed enforcement on Highway 401 eastbound in the Municipality of Port Hope. An officer observed a pickup truck travelling at a speed of 153 Km/h.

The vehicle was stopped, and an officer utilised Mandatory Alcohol Screening (MAS) by making a demand for breath into an Approved Screening Device (ASD). The driver complied and as a result, the individual was arrested and transported to a local detachment for further tests.

Vincent BOURRE, 26-years-old, from Clarington, has been charged with:

– Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80) plus

– Drive motor vehicle – perform stunt – excessive speed.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg at a future date. The 90-day ADLS was initiated along with a 14-day vehicle impound.

On November 3, 2024, at approximately 3:25 a.m., an officer located a pickup truck facing the wrong way at the on ramp leading to Highway 401 eastbound in the Township of Hamilton. Police entered into an impaired operation investigation and an ASD demand was made. With the result, the accused was arrested and transported to a local detachment for further tests.

Vincent STANLEY, 25-years-old, from the Township of Hamilton, has been charged with:

– Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80) plus

In addition to a future court date, a further 90-day Administrative Driver Licence Suspension (ADLS) and a seven-day vehicle impound was initiated as per statute
