Belleville Police Service – Driver Charged with Impaired (Name Released)

Total calls for service – Belleville Police responded to 89 calls for service over a 24-hour period beginning at 5:00 am on October 30, 2024 to 5:00 am on October 31, 2024.

Driver Charged with Impaired
On 30 October, 2024, at 12:19pm police received a traffic complaint on Bell Boulevard. The caller to police advised that a driver appeared to be falling asleep behind the wheel. Police located the vehicle in a parking lot with the driver asleep in the driver’s seat, and the vehicle was still in drive. The driver was arrested without incident and transported to the Belleville Police Service where a Drug Recognition Expert performed an evaluation on the driver and determined him to be under the influence of drugs. Justin Hutchings, 35, of Bath, is charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle by drug and possession of a methamphetamine. Hutchings was released from custody with a court date on 25 November, 2024

Theft
On 30 October, 2024, at 5:17pm, police were called to an Old Highway 2 East address for a report of stolen vehicle. Sometime throughout the day, two dirt bikes had been stolen from a shed. The bikes are described as a blue 2000s Yamaha YZ250 2 stroke with a missing back fender and a 1996 yellow and white M85 2 stroke.
