Northumberland OPP – Warkworth Inmate Charged with Assaulting Correctional Officer (No Name Released)

The Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged an inmate in relation to an assault which occurred at the Warkworth Institution.

On June 13, 2023, police received a report of a correctional services officer having been assaulted. The incident occurred on June 5, 2023, and the correctional officer was reported not to be injured.

As a result of an OPP investigation, a warrant was issued and on October 17, 2024, Northumberland OPP arrested the individual sought in connection to the incident.

A 37-year-old male, from Bath, has been charged with:

–      Assault a Peace Officer

–      Uttering threats – cause death or bodily harm.

The accused was held to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg.
