Video – Editorial – Drug Den Just Steps Away from Victoria Hall

In Editorial, Photo Gallery

It’s a virtual drug den just steps away from the backdrop of Victoria Hall.

A beautiful sunset overlooking Victoria Hall and Rotary Harbourfront Park on Wednesday, October 2, 2024, yet steps away are the horrors of the drug culture in Cobourg.

It’s hard to believe but the most minor thing spotted was the garbage on both sides of the creek just south of Love Locks bridge and north of the Esplanade by Cobourg Harbour.

Syringes, glass pipes and everything that goes along with that – right where children playing could discover.

Three bags of what appears to be clothing and a roll of toilet paper beside the creek.

Graffiti on trees that have been along the creek for several decades.

Homelessness isn’t a crime – and everyone can and should take a deep breath and thing at any time, “that could be me.”

But this far exceeds any sympathy.

The lack of disrespect for others, for nature, for society will get no pity from most people.

Even the dealers must scorn at the attention their customers are getting.

Unfortunately, it’s likely the taxpayers will be on the hook for the bill to clean it up.

It’s unknown if town officials are aware of the situation.
