Cobourg Police – Two People Charged with Impaired Driving (No Names Released)

Cobourg Police Service charged two individuals with impaired operation after responding to two separate reports of possible impaired driving on Wednesday afternoon.

On Wednesday, September 25, 2024, at 3:45 p.m., police responded to a report of a possible impaired driver observed to be unconscious behind the wheel of a vehicle behind a downtown business.

Officers located the vehicle and were able to wake the driver. As a result of the subsequent investigation, police arrested and charged the driver, a 44-year-old Peterborough man with Operating a conveyance while impaired by drug, Possession of a Schedule I Substance (fentanyl), Possession of a Schedule I Substance (cocaine), and Possession of a Schedule I Substance (unknown pills).

The accused was released on an Undertaking with a court date of October 9, 2024.

At approximately 4:20 p.m., police responded to a second report of a possible impaired driver, observed to be unconscious behind the wheel of a vehicle in the area of Havelock Street and George Street.

Officers located the vehicle and the driver who was conscious when they arrived. As a result of the investigation, the driver, a 58-year-old Cobourg woman, was arrested and charged with Operating a conveyance while impaired by drug, Possession of a Schedule I Substance (fentanyl), Possession of a Schedule I Substance (cocaine), and Possession of a Schedule I Substance (unknown pills).

The accused was released on an Undertaking with a court date of October 9, 2024.
