In Local

Saying “yes” to ENCORE paid off for Loretta Reynolds of Cobourg. She matched the last six of seven ENCORE numbers in exact order in the August 10, 2024 LOTTO 6/49 draw to win $100,000!

Loretta, 69, has been playing the lottery with OLG for three years. She exclusively plays LOTTO 6/49 and has been using her own set of special numbers ever since she began playing. Loretta also makes sure to always add ENCORE to her tickets. This dedication recently led her to the OLG Prize Centre to celebrate her first big win!

“The night before the draw, I told my husband, ‘Tomorrow, you’re going to wake up and we’re going to have some money.’ The next morning, while we were enjoying our coffee, I remembered to check my numbers. I opened the OLG app and saw that I had won a Free Play,” she recounted, while at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to pick up her windfall. “Then, I checked the winning numbers for the draw and was in total disbelief!”

Filled with excitement, Loretta asked her husband to confirm her win. “I showed him my ticket and my phone, and asked, ‘Are you seeing what I’m seeing?’ He said, ‘I think we won some money.’ In that moment, I felt like I had just won a prize on a game show!” Loretta smiled.

With her win, Loretta plans to pay some bills and purchase a new car. “Winning takes your breath away,” she said. “It’s mind-boggling and exhilarating to say the very least!”

ENCORE offers 22 ways to win and can be played in conjunction with most lottery games for an extra $1.

There are two ENCORE draws every day.

The winning ticket was purchased at the CNIB kiosk in Walmart on Strathy Road in Cobourg.

OLG supports safe play and wants to keep the fun in the game. That’s why OLG is proud to be a leader in promoting responsible gambling with our globally recognized PlaySmart program.
