Director of Protective Services Takes on Added Role as Fire Chief of Municipality of Port Hope

Jason Williams was appointed Fire Chief at the Council meeting on Tuesday, July 9, 2024.

Williams will continue his role as Director, Protective Services and maintain his responsibilities for By-law and Emergency Management.

Williams joined the Municipality in 2022 as Director, Protective Services and holds certifications in Fire Service Management from Humber College and Seneca College, and has pursued continuous professional development, earning numerous qualifications as a Fire Officer IV as well as in the fields of Fire Prevention and Public Education, Fire Investigation and Community Emergency Management Coordination.

Williams has completed University programs through Laurentian and Dalhousie University in the fields of Fire Scene Management and Leadership and Management Development and is also a Certified Municipal Manager III (Fire Prevention Professional) and Certified Fire Service Trainer.

Williams also brings extensive teaching experience from the Ontario Fire College and Seneca College, and has lectured and continues to lecture at several post secondary school institutions throughout Ontario in the field of Fire Science and Investigations. As well Williams brings his experience from his previous work with municipal fire services at the Ontario Fire Marshal’s office.
