Video – Two High Priority Calls for Port Hope Police

It was a busy day for Port Hope Police with two high priority calls on Monday, June 10, 2024.

At approximately 3 p.m. Port Hope Police were dispatched to a residence on Jiggins Court for a person that was barricaded and possibly armed with a weapon.

Police arrived on scene and called for Durham Regional Police Tactical Team who also have a trained negotiator and paramedic who arrived on scene.

While that incident was taking place, police were dispatched to another high priority call with a person armed with a knife walking in downtown Port Hope.

Port Hope Police rushed to the scene and did a gunpoint takedown where the suspect was taken into custody.

Back at Jiggins Court, Durham Police tried speaking with the individual, but in the end pepper spray was used and the individual was apprehended.

Port Hope Fire and Emergency Services were dispatched to clear the fumes of pepper spray from the residence.

The 37-year-old suspect from Ajax that was arrested on Queen Street near the Town Hall is charged with weapons dangerous.
