Northumberland OPP Continuing Death Investigation at Daycare

Investigation Is Ongoing

On May 25, 2023, members of the Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) began an investigation into the death of a child at a daycare in Hamilton Township.

The OPP would like to reassure the community that the investigation is ongoing, and we remain committed to completing a detailed and thorough investigation into the detai ls surrounding this death. In order to protect the integrity of this investigation, no further information or details can be shared at this time.

The Northumberland OPP Crime Unit and the Central Region Forensic Identification Services (FIS) are continuing the investigation with assistance from Central Region OPP Regional Support Team, under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch and in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Coroner.
