Video – Numerous Break-Ins Overnight in Bewdley

In Police Blotter

Northumberland OPP are investigating after a series of break-ins in Bewdley on Tuesday, May 21, 2024.

It’s believed at least four businesses on Rice Lake Drive North in downtown Bewdley were either broken into or there was an attempted break-in.

Bryan Whitehouse who owns Bewdley Pizza said his front door was pried open and a cash register was taken.

It’s believed entries in Bewdley happened around 1 a.m. on Tuesday morning.

Whitehouse said it’s believe a crowbar type object was used to break into Bewdley Pizza and took the entire cash register from the business.

There was a bundle of five dollar bills and a roll of toonies that were beside the register that weren’t touched indicating the suspect was in a rush, or as Whitehouse says it may have been the last business that was entered.

Whitehouse says the cash register was likely worth more than the amount of cash that was in the register.

A neighbouring business, Lakeview Bar and Grill was also entered when a suspect/s entered through a east window and took a quantity of cash and liquor.

Suspect/s also tried to enter Rhino’s Roadhouse as indicated by the pry marks on the front door.

It’s believed the suspect/s were scared away by tenant of the building.

The door to BJ Tackle was kicked in and suspect/s once again only took money from the cash register.

Another cash register located close by wasn’t touched.

The cost of replacing the door far exceeded the money that was in the register.

Whitehouse said he along with the other businesses work hard for their money.

To replace the cash register it could be in the area of $2,000 so Whitehouse says he’ll take it “one day at a time and hoping to God it doesn’t happen again.”
