Video – House Fire Causes Extensive Damage to Home North of Baltimore

In Local

Damage is estimated at over $100,000 following a house fire north of Baltimore in Hamilton Township on Wednesday, April 17, 2024.

At approximately 7:40 a.m. Hamilton Township Fire Department were dispatched to a home north of Baltimore on Harwood Road.

A neighbour smelled smoke and when he investigated found the house was on fire and called 9-1-1.

District Chief Trevor Clapperton said the fire appears to have been burning for a considerable amount of time inside the residence.

The home had recently been purchased, but no one was living in it at the time of the fire.

At this point officials believe the fire originated in the ceiling of the basement, or the floor of the kitchen, but are still investigating.

Clapperton said the fire is not suspicious, but are still working on determining the exact cause of the fire.
