Cobourg Police – Cobourg Woman Charged with Assaulting 13-Year-Old and Four Counts of Assaulting Police (Name Released)

On Thursday, March 21, 2024, at 6:15 pm, police attended the area of Division Street and King Street for a report of an assault. The complainant advised that an individual assaulted her 13-year-old son after engaging in a conversation. The victim was pushed and struck in the head, causing minor injuries.

Police located an individual who matched the description provided nearby and arrested them. The suspect resisted arrest and kicked and head-butted officers, causing minor injuries. During a further search of her person, the accused removed a knife hidden in her sock and waved it at officers. Officers safely disarmed the accused.

As a result of the police investigation, 49-year-old Jill Edgar of Cobourg was charged with two counts of assault, two counts of assault with a weapon, four counts of assaulting a police officer, and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

The accused was held for a show cause hearing later today.
