Kawartha Lakes OPP – Peterborough Man Charged with Impaired (Name Released)

Members of the City of Kawartha Lakes Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a two-vehicle collision where one individual was charged with an impaired driving offence. No one was injured in this collision.

On February 4, 2024, at 6:10 p.m., City of Kawartha Lakes OPP responded to a motor vehicle t hat had collided with a bus on Frank Hill Road. Through investigation the driver of the motor vehicle was charged with impaired driving offences.

John Virtanen, 39-year-old of Peterborough, was charged with:

  • Operation while Impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Operation while Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration 80 plus

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay at a later date. The motor vehicle was towed and impounded for 7 days.
