Cobourg Police – Two Cobourg Men Facing Charges During Assault Investigation (Names Released)

On Monday, January 29, 2024, at 4:30 p.m., police attended a business in the area of King Street and Division Street in response to a report of a disturbance.

Two individuals were engaged in a verbal altercation inside the business. One individual was in possession of a hatchet and chased the second individual out of the business. No injuries were reported.

Police located the individuals, and as a result of the investigation, Charles Bond, a 41-year-old Cobourg man, was arrested and charged with assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, two counts of fail to comply with probation order.

The accused was held for a show cause hearing.

Further investigation revealed that during the altercation in the store, the second individual threatened the store clerk when asked to leave the store.

As a result, Jamie Moore (photo included), a 46-year-old Cobourg man, was arrested and charged with assault.

The accused was released on an undertaking with conditions and a future court date
