Town of Cobourg Officials Conduct a Walk-Thru Encampment Looking for Safety Violations

In Local

Officials with the Town of Cobourg did a walk-thru of the encampment at the east end of Cobourg on Thursday, December 7, 2023.

It appeared the purpose of the walk-thru was to look for any safety violations that could cause injury to the residents of the encampment.

Town of Cobourg CAO Tracey Vaughan and with the Cobourg Fire Chief and Deputy Chief, the head of By-law Services along with a by-law officer, and a Cobourg Police officer were in attendance for approximately an hour while security overseeing the encampment stood by.

A small wood stove was given the clearance to be used after the day before fire officials told the occupant not to use it until it was inspected.
